High Reliability Solder & Rework
Course Code: S&R
Audience
A modular interactive multimedia learning program for electronic assembly
operators who perform solder and rework tasks.
Objectives
Participants successfully completing the program will be able to demonstrate
and explain:
- Solder function, composition, melting behaviour
- Methods of supplying heat to the solder process
- Fluxes, role, applications, types, characteristics
- Soldering tools and procedures for use
- Acceptable and unacceptable solder joints, defects
- Safety, setup, and material handling procedures
- Application and procedures for reflow soldering
- Purpose and procedures for rework
- Methods for removal and replacement of through hole components
- Methods for removal and replacement of surface mount components
Standards
This course applies IPC A-610 for solder joint acceptability, J-001 for Soldering
Processes, and IPC-7711 for Rework.
