ESD: An Introduction

Audience
A comprehensive interactive multimedia learning program for those who work with static sensitive devices. This course introduces the trainee to electrostatic discharge. The training is directed to assemblers and support personnel. ESD: An Introduction is available as a CD-ROM stand-alone course, as a CD for use over your internal LAN, and as an internet course.
Objectives
Participants successfully completing the program will be able to demonstrate and explain:
- How static electricity is generated from common actions
- Two different types of damage caused by ESD
- Problems and cost implications of ESD
- Conditions most likely to cause uncontrolled electrostatic discharge
- Behaviour of insulative, conductive, and dissipative materials
- Causes and effects of polarization and induction
- Function of ionization and humidity in ESD control
- Types of grounding and function of in ESD control
Standards
ESD: An Introduction conforms to the IPC 610 ESD guidelines as well as the
guidelines of the EOS / ESD Association including S-2020.
